I was fortunate enough to preside over the club as Captain during what was one our most successful years for entering competitions.
We secured our first points in the Jacks Hicks trophy at London Beeches GC. The club team has been on an unprecedented run of wins, winning two successive competitions back to back, and away from home.
Our junior section has grown through out the year, during which time an away competition at Fawkham Valley was arranged, and after a rain soaked start, the boys brought home the victory. What better way for our juniors to experience competitive battle.
As a mark of remembrance, I would like to pay tribute to a Pat Harnet who sadly passed away during 2007. Pat was a good golfer and he wasn't afraid to let you know when a rule or 2 had been broken.
The Captains charity for 2007 was the Greenwich and Bexley Hospice. It is my aim to raise a £1000.00 for this extremely worth while cause. The final figure collected was £2,700.00.
Well done and a massive thanks to whole club. Captains day was well attended with over 50 members turning out. The weather was perfect, everyone commented on how well the day went, and most importantly of all we collected well in excess of our target. Once again a huge thanks to all the members who turned out on the day.
I would like to pay a special thanks to Diane Heafield and her daughter who turned up exceptionally early on the day and helped with the registration as members arrived. Also a big thank you too to Catherine and Charlotte Lord my 2 eldest daughters who with my grandson in tow also turned up early to help with raffle.
A big thanks too to the remainder of the committee without who's support, backing and assistance especially Andy Heafield helped tremendously towards the day
