Saturday April 20th 2013 It was the St Georges Bowl competition and we had a fine turnout of 28 so 9 teams as it’s an alternate shot competition. We had fine weather and a few in shorts as well. There were a few who turned out in Red and white so hoping for a better turn out next year. There was a fine to be paid if any one said sorry in their team (I am sure this will cost me once the Sherriff reads this). No final total yet but a good sum raised I’m sure. The winners of this Bowl which was donated by Dave Langford the Club Secretary were Peter C and Bill with 34 points. The full result can be viewed via the link below.

Sunday April 21th 2013 The Captain/Pro challengers this week were The Sherriff (Steve S) and Robin. Robin paid up before even teeing off, which was the right thing to do as the Capt and Pro won by 3 points same difference as last week ( 22 -19), another close game.

Sunday April 14th 2013 Well this week the Captain/Pro challengers were John W and Bern the deputy Sherriff standing in for the Sherriff. It did not start well for the Captain again landing in the 'Captains bunkers' from the front tee position so 6 pounds raised for the charity this week. We also had a Club Competition at Mid Kent Golf Club (The team Robin, Andy H, Chris, Peter C) Report from Robin Pellet:
Bromley Golf Club sent a four man team to play in the Kent Amateur Foursomes on Sunday 14th April. We were well received and looked after at Mid Kent Golf Club, a very nice golf course on the outskirts of Gravesend. It is unusual to enjoy being beaten, but when you consider the quality of our opponents, can feel that we held our end up. One off two handicap, two on scratch and a remarkable young man who is off plus 3.4 and has qualified to play in the Walker cup. We went down six hole in one match and five in the other and it was no disgrace. Our collective handicap amounts to 29, theirs amounts to minus 1.
Sunday April 8th 2013 Well the new Captains year started this weekend and the first pair for the Captain/Pro challenge where Andy H and Mikki . It started well with the Captain trying to get the round over quickly and striking his ball straight towards the 9th green. But as the challenge says Captain and Pro, the Pro stepped in to save the hole (and a few more after that). But it was a very close game nip and tuck all the way and only 1 point between us at the end and so I say congratulations to Andy H and Mikki. This Sunday the challengers are John W and "The Sherriff" Steve S. Please be sure to see the Captain or the Pro to have your pair added to the challenge. Whilst the challenge was taking place the rest of the club entered the Terry Hamilton Trophy - 5 Club Strokeplay Terry Hamilton was commemorated by twenty players in a five club competition. The event was won by Phil Ashford with a net score of 35, congratulations Phil. Terry died quite suddenly three years ago. He had just been voted in as treasurer a few days before his untimely death. Terry loved the game, but is most notorious for arriving on time to away days, but not at the course he was supposed to be playing. He will be remembered for a long time by the club members. RIP.
